This year’s DLAC award is about the spirit of a community, and as we thought about who we wished to recognize with the Spirit of DLAC award, we thought about who represents the best aspects of community?
That’s a hard question and there are so many deserving people. But as we considered candidates, it was clear that no one was more deserving than Katie Allison. As Executive Director at iSucceed Virtual Schools in Idaho, she demonstrates the spirit of community in her own school because she leads by showcasing her teachers, staff, and students. She extends that community aspect by linking her online charter school to all charter schools in Idaho in her leadership roles with the Association of Charter School Leaders. And what we find in our DLAC community, is that she’s the type of person who says yes to requests before we even know all the details of what we’re asking, whether it’s taking part in DLAC’s Digital Learningpalooza or being the first to sign onto our new PLC for online charter schools.
