Because virtual educators are often the only ones in their district building new digital pathways, innovating can be an isolating experience. Conversely, mature virtual programs risk falling into complacency that chokes out fresh ideas. To break out of “the way it’s always been done,” digital learning leaders must participate in multi-stakeholder networks to foster meaningful professional belonging, challenge legacy habits, and improve digital learning practice. These groups bring together virtual teachers, building and program administrators, researchers, edtech vendors, and policymakers to create a collaborative space where everyone has a voice in shaping modern learning.
